Scotland was never somewhere I
expected to end up this summer, but last week I made the decision to follow my
friends to Edinburgh and what a great decision that was. We left London
Thursday night stayed at St. Christopers Inn while in Edinburgh. Over the three days we were there we toured
the castle, hiked Arthur’s Seat, had coffee at the Elephant house, and went on
a ghost tour. Our days were jam-packed as we explored all that Edinburgh had to
offer. The scenic views and quaint cafes made it a perfect first weekend away.
Spending my summer studying abroad in the vibrant city of London. Keep up with my adventures as I explore London and beyond.

Chalk Art in Edinburgh (GrC)
In Edinburgh I ran across a small market on the Royal Mile. It was located inside of an old building and housed a few vendors along with a coffee bar and seating area. Although the building was rustic and dark, it had a modern aesthetic thanks to the chalk art placed throughout. All of the signs in the market and outside were written in chalk with different designs. It made the old building feel youthful and exciting.

Imperial War Museum Typography (GrC)
The Imperial War Museum is home to an impressive WW1 exhibit
with beautiful visuals. Some of the most visually engaging pieces are the
propaganda posters. The majority of the posters created during WW1 had
contrasting font sizes placing emphasis on the most important part of the
message, usually a call to action. Additionally, there were quotes placed
throughout the exhibit that also enhanced the exhibit experience. The quotes
were easy to read due to their contrast in both color and font size. All of the
quotes were written in the same format, making them easy to identify and
highlighting the power of repetition.
